Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia is considered by many to be the city's living center. During the colonial era, Old Town was used as a harbor. As its name indicates, Old Town is the oldest part of the city. The historic district of Old Town Alexandria can be located along the Potomac River, a short distance upstream from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Potomac Yard and then Reagan National Airport serve as natural boundaries for the northernmost part of Old Town. Old Town is accessible via both the King St. Metro and the King St. streetcar. In Old Town, there are more than one hundred different types of businesses, including restaurants, stores, galleries, coffee shops, and ice cream parlors.
